Digital televisions refer to the distribution and receiving or moving images & sound by the way of distinct signals which is contradictory to the traditional analogue signals used on analog tellies. Originating in the end of nineteen-nineties this technology was of substantial eagerness to the telly broadcasting organisations and consumer electronics retailers as it offered up huge economical opportunities. Find great offers on a variety of products including, Plasma Widescreen TVs online today at Sound & Vision!

Digital telly is recognised to be far more flexible & adaptable when compared against analogue television. When sensibly realised by television broadcasters, digital TV allows astounding quality pictures and audio as well as offering more programming stations than analogue does. None the less, despite DTV can supply incredible technical quality a digital signal may not automatically have to carry an enhanced quality image or sound than an analogue signal.

There are more than a few different ways to get hold of digital telly. One of the oldest means of acquiring digital TV is with a metal aerial; this is categorised as digital terrestrial telly. In the midst of the more recognised techniques there is the preference to acquire a digital cable and a digital satellite. Currently not considering of how viewers get there hands on digital TV the majority will pick up digital tellies by way of a set-top box, that translates the digital signals into signals that analogue televisions can identify with.

The newest in and easiest technique to get hold of digital TV is in reality to buy a telly that contains digital telly integrated into the unit. Most TV’s have this at this time as between two-thousand and eight and two-thousand and twelve televisions services all over the UK is planned to go fully digital, TV area by TV area. Digital televisions are not that expensive at this time, in reality you should perhaps find that Digital TVs will be the same price as you would envisage to pay for a standard TV. So, all you have to think of digital being is just a further added element that is in actual fact going to assist you when it comes to the ever expanding collection of television channels you will now have.

If you are running out of space on your computer or find that programs load a little slow, or that big files take a long time to open, it may be time for a new hard drive.

Making a more careful decision about the hard drive can mean a much longer working life for the hard drive. Better reliability, allowing the hard drive to run for many years without mechanical failures or the worst of all, losing your precious data to errors on the drive.

Obviously the main thing that people think about when getting a new drive is size. Although a 400GB drive sounds great, there are very few people who actually use this much space. Only if you save DVD movies to your hard drive, or if you do serious amounts of video editing will you need this much space. The smallest size drives available today are about 40GB and will suffice for all your needs. However if you want the latest technologies, bigger sizes are inevitable.

Over the years the speed at which hard drives work has increased. One of the main technologies to improve is the connection between the hard drive and the rest of the computer. It passes the information back and forth from the hard drive, the faster it is the faster information can be passed, and so speeding up the programs you use and the files you use.

There are 2 main varieties for this connection:

The old IDE kind, which comes in 4 flavors: ATA33, ATA66, ATA100 and ATA133, each number corresponding to the transfer rate in MB/s, the bigger the faster. This type is pretty standard. If your computer is older, you may only be able to use this kind, and depending how old will determine which speed.

SATA is a newer kind. It uses a different cable and allows much faster information transfer. The slower kind is 150MB/s and the faster is 300MB/s, so they are much faster than IDE.

A newer technology called Native Command Queuing (NCQ) speeds up how fast things are found and done on the hard drive. Just briefly, it orders the read and write commands given to it in such as way as to get the tasks done quicker and with less delay.

Drives are most often separated by their size and this is a big factor in the pricing of a drive. The smallest drives today are around 40GB, you can get a little smaller, but no point really. The largest of 400GB will be enough for a really long time.

The other thing that affects pricing is the rotation speed, which is the speed at which the big disk spins inside the disk drive. The faster it spins the faster information gets found. Look for rotation speeds of 7200RPM as standard and 10000 for the fast end.

With all of this it may be hard to decide, but here are my suggestions.

For a main drive, which has your Windows and programs on it, go for something faster, but bear in mind that even for me my ATA66 drive is fast enough for my uses. But a faster one will speed up how fast your programs go. It might be a good idea just to go for one big, fast drive.

Brand name drives are often worth getting, as manufacturers like Seagate, Maxtor and Western Digital are well known for long lasting quality products, which will not make any difference in the short term usually, but will pay off with long life and reliability.

If you want or need two drives the second one can sacrifice speed for size, as that’s what’s most often needed for a second drive, which usually stores all your information.

You should now have enough to make a smart choice in your next hard drive purchase. A good one can be kept for a very long time and minimize any hassles in the future.

Just recently Ipsos released the findings of their study “The face of the web.”

We learn that 28% of all mobile users have used their mobile to access the internet, 52% have sent a text message and 36% have sent or received email.

Mobile penetration across the globe is (relatively) high, apart from the US and Canada where ownership by household is 75% and 60% respectively. In east Asia this figure is over 90% and Western Europe 80%. Furthermore there is a correlation between those who access the internet and those that own a mobile.

This week we have the announcement that Paypal is to start a mobile payment service. This means that 105 million Paypal subscribers will now be able to [a] purchase and [b] send money to other using their mobile - instantly. This is a powerful offering.
Imagine you’re opening a new store or restaurant perhaps and want to reduce capital expenditure on costly registers, a safe etc. Here’s your answer.

Given that most of us are now as good as surgically attached to our mobiles, what is the future for credit cards?

Anna Pollock said in 2003 that from the moment we wake up we are all consumers, we just need the process of consuming made easy. It doesn’t get much easier than this.

Instant, mobile purchasing - The Future for Consumers.

We need more from our mobiles though.
Why can’t recruitment agencies automatically send me a text message when they have a vacancy that fits my profile?

Why can’t delivery companies send me a text message with the status of my international shipment?

Why can’t I send a text message to order a cab and it will come and pick me up from wherever I am (read wherever my mobile is)?

Why don’t Canadian schools send a mass text message to all parents when a “snow day” is declared and school is off?

When you open up the side of a computer for the first time, you may ask yourself “How could I ever build one of these?”

It is a maze of wires, circuitry, chips, and cables. Inside are boxes that hum, and LEDs glowing softly. For the beginner it all seems complex and intimidating.

If you have never built a computer before, your greatest challenge is to accept the challenge itself.

There really doesn’t have to be any apprehension, though. As I have said in many articles, there are only 11 major parts in a computer. Most of them either snap together, or plug-in. The most complicated tool you’ll use is a screwdriver. If you can follow simple instructions, you can build a computer in an afternoon.

These instructions can be found throughout the internet. There is an almost unlimited number of sites that devote part or all of their space to building computers. If you prefer the printed page, guidebooks can steer you through planning, buying parts, assembly, and loading your operating system.

If you fear plugging something in the wrong way and frying parts as a result, there’s no need to worry. The plugs are keyed to connect together one way only. If there is any doubt in your mind, the wires are color-coded as well.

All the ports you’ll be plugging things into on the motherboard are labeled, albeit with tiny letters. Motherboard manufacturers, like Asus, Abit, and Intel, send out fine manuals with their boards, with easy to understand diagrams.

The motherboards, and all the other parts you’ll need are so widely available that competition is keeping prices down. In addition, manufacturers constantly bring out new models, driving down prices on merchandise that may have been issued only a few weeks before. So, it is possible to build a “dream machine” on a bargain budget.

We’re in the midst of a revolution - but many people don’t realize the full implications of it.

While telecommuting has been in existence since at least the nineties, the phenomenal development of laptops, PDAs, cell phones with digital cameras and instant messaging capability, and other devices has changed even that concept. Working from home rather than having to go into the office five days a week is a great concept, but actually somewhat limited these days. With public libraries offering broadband and eateries like Starbucks equipped with “wifi,” your home office doesn’t have to be at home at all, but can be at the library or even your local bistro.

Or how about another city? Electronic communications has become so sophisticated that, if your body doesn’t actually have to make an appearance at a physical location, you could accomplish your work anywhere. You could take a vacation without your boss even knowing it! Get out of bed in Paris, work for an hour or so over croissants and coffee at a sidewalk café, check out the Louvre, put in another two or three hours on a park bench, check out a local bistro for lunch, and so on. As long as you’re producing and sending in quality work, no one has to know where you’re producing it. Think of the freedom of literally having the world at your feet, every day.

Just one thing - if you happen to take a picture of yourself with that digital camera / cell phone combo - make sure the Eiffel Tower isn’t in the background.

If you have a cell phone, then you would likely also have a battery charger. Most phones of this type are accompanied by an A/C adapter, which hooks into the phone and is then plugged into an outlet. Depending on the phone, it may take up to 24 hours for the battery charger to fully recharge the phone’s battery. Because cell phones operate by battery, this is an accessory that cannot be overlooked.

Not all cellular phone purchases include them, but a battery charger is also available for use in one’s automobile. This device typically plugs into the vehicle’s cigarette lighter and the other end into the telephone. This battery charger works instantly and allows the owner to use his/her phone immediately. If a cell phone does not have this type of battery charger included in the original purchase, it is best to purchase one. If you have a purse, you can place the battery charger inside so that you will always have it with you. Otherwise, it can be placed in the glove box of your automobile.

You can take either an A/C adapter or cell phone battery charger for your automobile with you on vacation, as well. If you plan to travel by commuter train, most have electrical hookups that allow you to conveniently charge your cell phone using the A/C adapter. When you arrive at your destination, you will have the convenience of having the battery charger that plugs into the cigarette lighter of any rental car.

A battery charger is a relatively inexpensive item and can be found at any retail store’s electronic department. It is important to realize that not every battery charger works with all phones. Each is specifically designed for a model or manufacturer, so be sure to write down the model number and manufacturer’s name before shopping for a battery charger. If you switch phones, be sure to get another battery charger and do not attempt to use your current one with any other phone than it is intended for.

A battery charger is a must-have for every cell phone owner. If you begin to have car problems and find that your cell phone battery is low, this is the only way to regain contact with a friend or relative who can help. At the same time, if you want to make sure that your cell phone is charged up and ready to go when you walk out the door, follow the instructions to using you’re A/C adapter to charge the battery in the convenience of your own home.

Are Big Car Speakers Better?

If you are planning to purchase car speakers, there are things you need to know in order to make the best choice. A clear mind and a basic plan of what you intend to buy are crucial when shopping for car speakers. Big car speakers do not always mean better speakers.

Purchasing speakers for your car can end up being more costly than necessary if you buy speakers that have numerous features you won’t use. Keep in mind that top quality audio speakers cost more than some other brands, but are generally worth the investment. If big car speakers are your preference, make sure you buy a dependable brand name and make certain the speakers will provide you with crystal clear sound.

There are two basic kinds of car stereo speakers: component speakers and full range speakers. Each has advantages and disadvantages. Full range car stereo speakers generally consist of a tweeter, a woofer, and some may be equipped with a midrange or supertweeter. If you want to replace your factory speakers with minimal trouble, full range speakers are your best choice. Full range speakers come in varying sizes and price ranges.

If big car speakers are your preference, you can find full range speakers in almost any size. Component speakers give you the best possible sound quality through their superior design. The typical components include tweeters, separate woofers, and external crossovers. Each of these components is designed to compliment the others. Big car speakers can be part of a component system if you make sure you have all the necessary components.

For those who are serious about their car stereo speakers, a component system will be the best choice. Your sound system will have greater depth and sound more realistic. You can include big car speakers in a component system. Detailed sound and exceptional dynamics are the result of higher quality materials than are normally found in full range speakers.

The question of which are better - small or big car speakers is not a simple one. Big car speakers may be your preference but that will not ensure you of the getting the best sound. Car stereo speakers come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Determining the type of car audio system you want is much more important than the size of speakers you purchase.

Enjoy!

Enjoy the convenience of owning a free cell phone
Most free cell phone providers will insist that they offer calling plans from national service providers such as T-Mobile or AT&T Wireless and that they use the same rates. It is true, but what they don’t tell you is they may reduce your options.

Offering free phones has always been a marketing tool. Mobile providers believe that if they can get you into their service, you’ll stay forever. You usually only get the free cell phone if you sign a contract for 2 or 3 years.

Phones offered for free are the cheapest and most ordinary phones. People shopping for any free cell phone are probably looking to save, but they may end up paying more. A great way to save money on cellular service is to sign up for a family or shared plan.

It really depends on what you want your cell phone for, who’s paying for it and if the free ones are really worth it. I believe a free cell phone may not necessarily be a bad offer; it’s just not that free.

There are so many questions within the printer market which still haven’t been answered. No more mysteries. It’s usually the most common questions which are frequently asked where people have the most trouble.

On that note, let’s get straight to the point and no cutting corners, shall we…

Q1. What is the difference between a new toner cartridge and a
remanufactured cartridge?

A. The difference between a new toner cartridge and a remanufactured cartridge is the price, quality, and packaging. The majority of the internal parts are replaced with new parts, reusing only those long life components that are in good condition.

Many new OEM (original equipment manufacturer) cartridges, such as Hewlett Packard or Canon, are also built from new and used parts.

What you will notice is a difference in the outside of the packaging and most importantly, the price of the product. You will save anywhere from 40% with the toner cartridges and up to 80% with the ink cartridges, which is less than OEM pricing.

This reducing un-necessary overhead will result in saving capital. At the same time, you will maintain the highest quality print output to give you phenomenal end results.

Q2. Will using a replacement toner or ink cartridge voids my printers warranty?

A. No, according to all printer manufacturers, using a replacement toner or ink cartridge will not affect coverage under the printer’s warranty. This especially goes for those who purchase extended warranties with their local retailer. This is proven by the following US Congress Legislation.

MAGNUSON-MOSS WARRANTY IMPROVEMENT ACT:

Magnuson-Moss Warranty Improvement Act United States Code Annotated Title 15 Commerce and trade Chapter 50 Consumer Product Warranties 15 Section 2303.

No warrantor of a consumer product may condition his written or implied warranty of such product on the consumer’s using, in connection with such product, any article or service (other than article or service provided without charge under the terms of the warranty) which is identified by brand, trade, or corporate name; except that the prohibition of this subjection may be waived by the commission if:

1)The warrantor satisfies the Commission that the warranted product will function properly only if the article or service so identified is used in connection with the warranted product, and

2)The Commission finds that such a waiver is in the public interest.

This means that the printer manufacturers cannot void the warranty on your printer because you use supplies and products manufactured by a third party manufacturer.

We cannot replace a printer nor have it fixed should any problems occur from using a remanufactured or compatible cartridge. We guarantee our products from any faults and we have not had a single case of a printer being damaged by a cartridge sold by us.

Q3. What do my printer’s error codes mean?

A. Your printer can produce a variety of numerous error codes in two-digit format. Please contact Inkjet Surplus, Inc. to diagnose the problem.

Q4. Why does paper keep jamming in my printer?

A. There are simple reasons and complex reasons to why paper can jam in a printer. You will experience paper jams if you use the wrong type of paper in your printer, such as it being too thick, too thin, or laminated with an unnatural chemical finish.

If paper jams occur at the front of your printer, the problem may be more serious, such as a worn-out pickup assembly. The pickup assembly is responsible for feeding the paper from the paper tray into the printer.

It is possible that when using a top load paper feed tray, dust particles can cause the rollers to jam the paper, which will lead into causing streaks when printing.

To avoid paper jams align the paper properly in the tray, and do your best not to load too much paper in at once.

Q5. When should I consider adding more memory to my printer?

A.If your printer isn’t printing as fast as its rated engine speed, adding more memory can and may help close the wide area. You will also need to add more memory if you frequently receive memory overload messages when trying to print documents.

Those messages indicate that your documents are too complex, sending more data to your printer at one time than your printer’s memory can handle.

“Those who do not ask the questions are those who are ignorant within themselves”

Q6. When should I consider upgrading my printer?

A. As good as your printer may be, there will come a time when upgrading makes sense. For one thing, printers do wear out eventually, getting to a point where the cost of repairs approaches the cost of a new machine.

You may even want to upgrade before your printer’s lifespan comes to an end. No matter how much memory you add to your printer, it will never print faster than its rated engine speed, also as fast as the new technology that recent machines contain.

If you or your staff frequently have to wait for the volume of pages you need to produce, then upgrading to a faster printer would contribute to the efficiency of your operations.

As your business changes, you may develop printing needs that your current printer simply cannot handle or perform, such as high resolution, print speed, or paper sizes. That is when it is time to upgrade.

Q7. Our printer can get very warm during printing. Will this indicate a problem or cause my printer to fail?

A.Most printers are sturdy enough to operate for many hours at a time. In the process they do get warm, After all, the fuser mechanism reaches nearly 400 degrees in order to melt toner onto the paper.

That being said, it is possible for your printer to get extremely hot. If its air intakes are blocked or if its air filter is dirty, your printer won’t be cooling it properly and could overheat.

Very serious overheating will occur if your printer’s fan fails. A strong recommendation to reduce this from happening, purchase a printer that has a high monthly volume or duty cycle that can handle heavy printing loads.

Consider too, that keeping your printer in a cool environment, such as an air conditioner can help keep it cool.

Q8. What does the fuser assembly do, and does it need to replaced
periodically?

A. The fuser assembly is located at the back of your printer. After toner has been deposited on the paper, the fuser (which gets very hot) melts the toner so that it adheres permanently to the paper.

If the fuser is not cleaned properly and regularly, it could need to be replaced as early as 35,000 prints. Dirt and debris can damage the fuser by scoring its surface. If you notice a ring around the roller, it may be time to replace the mechanism.

Q9. What is DPI?

A. DPI stands for dots per square inch. It represents the level of intensity as well as quality depending on how many microscopic drops per dot are layered upon each other.

There are directions in which ink is layered, horizontally and vertically. Pixels are contracted together to bring the image to its realistic life looks.

A high resolution such as 2400 x 1200 dpi will result in its best performance on high quality photo paper. DPI is measured on the amount of drops layered on the base of the paper, not the size of the resolution.

Q10. What is the difference if I purchase a printer that contains the print heads built-into the carriage or on the cartridge?

A. The difference is that every time you purchase a new cartridge such as a HP or a Lexmark, you are getting a brand new print head.

Whenever a printer is purchased with the print heads built-into the carriage, the more wear and tear will occur on the print heads within that printer. The cost of having a carriage replaced or repaired can result to the same cost as a new cartridge or even a new printer depending on the manufacturer.

Q11. What are compatible cartridges?

A. Compatible cartridges are specifically manufactured to meet or exceed Original Equipment Manufacturer specifications.

These cartridges offer a high output of quality, reliability, and offer great printing results.

Compatible cartridges are brand new retail boxed cartridges, containing only new components such as OEM product.

They are also an economical alternative to expensive brand – name cartridges and supplies that allow the consumer to enjoy big savings. The use of compatible or replacement cartridges does not void the printer’s warranty.
