Education loans are very important for students pursuing higher education. The tuition fee of professional education is very high. Apart from tuition fee, there are several other expenses that students have to bear, i.e. cost of living that include hostel charges and food. For parents of many students, it is not easy to bear all these expenses. Therefore, students have to go for an education loan.

In the UK, education loans are provided by Student Loans Company. Student Loans Company is owned by the British Government and provides financial assistance to eligible students. To get a loan from Student Loans Company, students can apply through their local education authority in England and Wales. Students of Northern Ireland can apply for a loan through the Student Awards Agency for Scotland or their local education and library board.

Government offers graduate loans to graduate students to help them cover their expenses. Graduate loans are of two types – Stafford graduate loans and Perkins graduate loans. Stafford graduate loans are given to all students regardless of their financial position. Such loans are further subdivided into two – subsidized and unsubsidized. In case of subsidized loans, students do not have to pay interest whereas interest is payable by students on unsubsidized loans. Perkins graduate loans are offered to students whose financial position is not sound.

Besides government loans, students can take out a loan from banks, financial institutions or private lenders. You can take out a personal loan to finance your education. Personal loans are usually unsecured and therefore, they carry high rates of interest. If you own a house, you can take out a homeowner loan to finance your education. Homeowner loans are secured loans and carry low rates of interest. Homeowner loans offer all the advantages of a secured loan – low rates of interest, small amount of monthly payments, flexible repayment terms, etc. You can also take out a home equity loan to finance your education. Home equity is the present value of your house minus the unpaid mortgage balance.

You do not have to start repaying your education loan until you finish your course and start making a living. Once you get a job, you are supposed to.

The Registration of domain names is a thriving business on the Internet today – this is evident by the high bids that companies are willing to pay in Per-Per-Click (PPC) engines to attract potential customers for domain name registration.

The business of domain name registration is sometimes referred to as “Internet Real Estate”. Just like we can occupy high traffic areas in the central business districts of major cities in the real world, we can register domains for commonly used words or sought after keywords to generate traffic more easily to our websites. While most common words and abbreviations have already been taken for the most widely used top level domain names, with a little bit of creativity we can still register an endless number of promising domain names.

While there is no clear indication to what extent .com, .net as well as country top level domain names such as .co.uk, .de, .fr and so forth influence search engine rankings of websites, the word is that .org domains are still favored by Google as part of the non-commercial tradition.

However, this article is not looking at how the domain extension influences the ranking of a website as this is thought to be insignificant for search engine rankings. A stronger influence on search engine rankings have indeed the length of registration, frequency of DNS changes as well as the reputation of the registrar.

Even though sometimes overrated in its importance - especially in relationship to its effect on search engine rankings, domain names do remain an important asset for the online corporate identity of your business.

The main consideration concerning your domain name will be to choose between a creative name (such as “yahoo”, “alibaba”, “kazaa”) or a keyword name (such as “study-tourism”, “retail-gifts” or “hawaii-mortgage-company”. In fact using main keywords in your domain name does have a positive effect on your search engine rankings, especially to get your rankings off the ground after launching a new website. Down the road the effect however becomes almost negligible.

While many people tend to register numerous domain names to accommodate most important key words within them, they overlook that Google and other major search engines will pay almost the same attention to sub-domains. So instead of registering “hawaii-real-estate”, “florida-real-estate” and so forth, we might as well just register “real-estate” and have sub domains such as “hawaii.real-estate”, “florida.real-estate” and so forth.

What people further underestimate is that search engines in general look for keywords in the URL (unique resource locator) which comprises of the top level domain, any potential sub-domains and of course the file name. So, if you happen to be using a creative domain name that does not contain any important key words, you can of course include your main keywords in the file name of the webpage itself, i.e. florida-real-estate.html.

Hence, in a nutshell, while domain names are a major asset for your corporate identity, their significance for search engine rankings is overrated, as there are various ways to accommodate significant keywords in the URL and eventually other onsite factors (coding techniques, content) of a website will have a greater impact for search engine rankings.

Changing a few words in your copy can lead to double-digit increases in conversions. If that sounds like a bunch of hype from an online infomercial, stick around and I’ll show you how it’s done.

That’s really all that happened with Kneelsit.com, an Australian ergonomic computer chair manufacturer. They had what would be considered a successful site with a continual stream of orders. All the basic information was already included on the home page, but the owner felt as though something was not quite “there” yet. He wanted a fresh approach to the site’s copy, so that’s what he received. And the results were simply amazing.

The Problems

While Kneelsit had great rankings for their key terms (normally #1 to #4 in popular search engines) keeping those rankings high required some attention to the SEO piece of the puzzle. Conversions, however, were not at their maximum. The business was not suffering, but it did have room for improvement. So, after receiving a sample chair to use during the process, I set (or should I say “sat”) out to work.

Once I assembled the chair and rolled it up to my desk, I kept a notepad nearby so I could jot down benefits as I noticed them. In just a few days’ time, I had a long list of features and benefits to refer to.

As I read over the original home page copy (which can be seen here: http://www.copywritingcourse.com/kneelsit-home-original.html), I noticed something else. Many of the benefits I had on my paper were referenced (at least briefly) in the original copy. Some were phrased differently than I would later phrase them, but most were there.

However, in this highly competitive industry, I wanted to be sure to keep the uniqueness of the chair on the forefront. Visitors needed to quickly see that the Kneelsit was superior to other computer chairs available. The changing of some verbiage and providing more details in some areas would help keep visitors reading and help them easily distinguish this chair from others on their comparison list.

Once my list of benefits was completed, I began relating these options to other kneeling chairs and to users of ergonomic computer chairs. I wanted to see which benefits on my list were unique in the marketplace. I also wanted to know about the users of these chairs. After all, the buyer is the center of the process and should also be the focus of the copy.

My research revealed some of the reasons users would need an ergonomic chair and also the biggest complaints about some of the current ergonomic designs. In addition, I discovered which benefits were common to other ergonomic chairs and which were distinctive.

The Solutions

Armed with the research results, I started crafting the copy to speak to that one person who was forced to sit at a computer all day, in pain, and who desperately needed help. This person had tried several other computer chairs before with little to no results and was getting skeptical about finding a solution.

I looked back over my list of benefits in search of the ones that would not be found in the competition’s copy. I focused on one exclusive, patented feature (the axle design) and the fact that the chair was customizable for every body type.

I laid out a plan for the new copy including keyword selection, keyword placement, benefits and key points to be mentioned.

Similar in many ways to the original copy, the new version had some subtle, but powerful, changes. The goal of the new copy was to show the true distinction of these chairs by highlighting the most impressive benefits.

I would also focus on incorporating keyphrases in headlines and sub-heads (where it made sense to do so) and throughout the copy. I had to pay careful attention to making the copy sound natural, as I never want the SEO factors to overshadow the message of the page.

In Part 2 of this series (seen here: http://www.marketingwords.com/articles/articles_subtlechanges2.html), we’ll take a look at what went into the rewrite as well as what type of results were achieved with the new copy.

Where are the dogs of yesteryear? They all seem to be some breed or another these days. They never used to be. Back in the forties, we had dogs that LEANED in one direction or another. Or maybe two or three directions at once. But we never went out and bought a specific brand of dog. Why would you buy a dog when the neighbors were giving away perfectly good pups for free, along with a jar of peaches and maybe some string beans?

It has always been hard to earn a living farming, and the animals on our Montana farm all had to have a use. The cats earned their living by catching the mice that ate the grain. The dogs earned their living, Daddy told us kids, by bringing in the cows at milking time.

Our dogs tended not to be real good at bringing in the cows, but we kept them anyway. Maybe because Daddy had a soft heart — which he did — but mainly, I think, because the dogs had a better understanding of what they were there for than we children did:

The dogs thought they were there to bark at every single car that went by.

Back when one or two cars came by in a day, we were glad to know that someone was coming down our hill, and, unless it was time for the mailman, we checked to see whose car it was.

The forties went by, then the fifties, and the number of cars increased. We no longer checked to see who it was. Which was not the fault of the dogs: they still barked at every single car.

By the sixties, I had left home but came back for vacations. And during one summer vacation I found out why we really needed that dog.

“There’s someone hiding in our shack,” said Daddy. “Whatever you do, don’t go up there. Don’t even go near it.”

The shack, which probably was built as a homesteader’s shack, was at the top of the hill by our house. It had one main room with a table and chairs, a cupboard with a few dishes, a wood stove, and a double bed. An outdoor toilet out back beckoned with open door.

In the forties and fifties, Grandma cleaned the shack each June. She washed the dishes in the cupboard, washed all the patchwork quilts on the beds, and put fresh kerosene in the lamp. All to prepare for the workers who came to hoe our sugar beets, under a contract between the Mexican government and the sugar beet company. Under that contract a good worker could make fifty dollars a day: excellent wages in the forties and fifties.

By the late sixties, Daddy no longer grew sugar beets, and the shack had for years lain empty. Then our neighbor Nina Davis telephoned. “Have you got someone in your shack across the road from us?” she asked. “Because we’re seeing a light in there at night.”

“No. No one’s supposed to be in there,” said Mamma. But neither our family nor the Davises went to the shack to investigate, nor did anyone suggest calling the sheriff. The Davises were also native Montanans who went by the same code of behavior we did. I’d learned about this code when I was little: one of our neighbors had a practice of stealing from other neighbors. “Why don’t we tell the sheriff?” I asked.

“If he got arrested, he might or might not get convicted. And if he got convicted, he’d get maybe six months in jail,” said Mamma. “And when he got out of jail, he’d come back to our neighborhood to live. And one night our barn would burn down. Or maybe our house. Or someone would shoot our cows or maybe even us. Something. So we leave that situation alone.”

Now that the rest of the country has discovered Montana and taken over a good chunk of it (the goodest chunk, in fact), people no longer think that way. The Bitterroot Valley has five times the population it had in my childhood. The sheriff has deputies, and according to the local newspaper they are busy day and night responding to complaints of barking dogs, domestic violence, and petty theft.

But, during that week in the late sixties, we and the Davises kept watch on the shack and did what we had been taught to do: nothing. “Look!” said Daddy, as our car drove slowly by one night. We looked, and, sure enough, a dim, grey light shone through the shack’s window, which window was pretty dirty now that Grandma no longer gave it her attention. “He’s lit the kerosene lamp.”

“Must be reading in there,” said Mamma softly.

That week we locked the doors of our house every night — something we had never done before — and Daddy slept with his pistol close at hand.

In case the dog barked in the middle of the night.

So that was why we’d put up with all that barking all those years, I realized. That and our family’s soft hearts and, where some of those dogs were concerned, our soft heads as well.

“The Davises tell me they haven’t seen a light in that shack for three nights,” Daddy said a few days later. “I’m going up with my pistol and investigate.”

He went up at noonday, stood like a Western lawman with his back to one side of the door, gun ready. He suddenly whirled to face the shack and kicked the door open.

Silence.

He went inside, gun still at the ready. But the shack was empty. Our fugitive had fugited, leaving behind only a couple of well worn detective magazines and a pile of cigarette butts. And an unmade bed. Sure proof he hadn’t been brought up right, you bet.

And, in case you wonder, Daddy didn’t take the dog when he reconnoitered around the shack that day. Daddy was pretty fond of that little dog, and he didn’t want him to get hurt.

This is a “what has worked very, very well for me” article.
Reasons I wish to share these tips include: (1) for the last 15
years I have not been sick or experienced more than a slight
cold, nor do I take any prescription medications; (2) I have a
lot of friends, both older and younger than me, who have
suffered from many illnesses and diseases. I believe that if my
friends would follow similar health practices that I do, many
would see improved results in their own health; and (3) the
internet provides me with an opportunity to share this
information, without anyone feeling obligated to read it or to
utilize my suggestions.

I do not claim to have all the answers or practice the “perfect”
diet and exercise plan. I realize that a person’s genetic
inheritance and environment can also influence a person’s
health. However, I believe that most people would benefit by
implementing suggestions in this article.

Here is a PLAN for generally pretty good health, as I see it.

1.Prevention is a lot better than a cure. Living a healthy
lifestyle is a lot easier than trying to get over any kind of
disease. 2.Balanced living is important. Not all work, not all
play. Not too much stress. Some meaningful socializing, but also
meaningful time alone with God. Some service to doing good and
helping others, but not so much as to consume all your quality
time with God, your family and your friends. 3.Eating habits.
Lots of fruits & vegetables. Raw foods everyday. Leaf lettuce
and Romaine are much healthier than head lettuce. Raw foods are
important as they add enzymes that assist in digestion. Several
helpings of fruits and veggies daily will help your health.
4.Good elimination daily. Consume plenty of fiber and drink
plenty of water. 5.Not overweight. Take a good digestive enzyme
supplement. It will help you digest your food. Older people
especially would benefit from this since they may have more
problems with digestion. Also, raw fruits and vegetables are low
in calories and aid digestion. Do not eat a lot of refined
carbohydrates, such as sugar, white bread, white spaghetti, etc.
Go sparingly on those high-calorie desserts. 6.Get adequate
exercise. If you have an office job, you will have to work
harder at this than someone who naturally exercises as part of
his job. 7.Get adequate sleep at night, at least 7 or 8 hours
for most people. Sleep in the dark, complete darkness if
possible. 8.Detoxify. We are exposed to many toxins throughout
our lives. Exhaust fumes, cleaning supplies, mercury (dental
amalgams), lead, aluminum, parasites, etc. Fortunately, our
bodies do get rid of most toxins. However, we don’t throw off
all toxins, and over the years, toxins will build up. It is
important to eliminate toxins since a build-up of them can
contribute to a host of diseases. 9.Take good quality vitamin
and mineral supplements. Generally, we don’t get everything we
need from foods. High quality supplements can help in preventing
illness and disease.

A real health nut or nutritionist may wish to add to or take
away from the above list. One thing about good health and
nutrition…even the best experts in the country will not agree on
everything. Plus, when it comes to diet and exercise, “one shoe
does not fit all.” Though I still work for a living, I am at an
age where many people are retired and I believe that I have
learned a few things about a healthy lifestyle. Some of those
things have been shared with you in this article.

Wishing you the very best of health!

Many traders and investors dream about making consistent profit on the stock market. Typically, investors would turn to fundamental analysis for medium to long term capital gains while traders would try to time the market using technical analysis to spot reversals or advantageous entry point and exit with the first sign of trouble. Unfortunately for everyone, the stock market is a zero-sum game. What this means is that for you to profit someone else would have to lose. The market exchanges acts like a distribution center of wealth. Essentially, without knowing, many novice investors and traders are actually trading against the professional and institutional traders. Who do you think will win most of the time? The answer is obvious. Credit Spread is one of the lesser known trading strategies available to the options trader. This strategy is call “credit spread” because you actually collect your target profits upfront or a credit when you enter into a credit spread position. Credit spreads are directional plays – bull or bear. The bull spread is called Bull Put Spread while the bear spread is known as the Bear Call Spread.

The Credit Spread Option Trading Strategy can be constructed to be a low risk investment vehicle. Using this strategy, we are able to use time decay in Options prices to our full benefit. Time decay works towards our advantage the closer it is to expiration. With this in mind, time can very well be our ally in our quest for profit. We just need to know how to use time to help us.

Fact - about 80% of all options expire worthless, it makes sense that serious and long term investor should only be writing credit spreads for a living.

How do we profit from Credit Spread?

Assuming that we are writing a Bull Put Spread:

If the stock moves upwards, we make money.
If the stock moves sideways, we make money.
If the stock moves lower, but is above the strike price that we sold our puts, we still make money.

I don’t know about you, but any trade that lets you earn a full profit when your stock moves higher, when it moves sideways, or even when it moves lower enhance your winning probability. Credit spread writing is a powerful trading strategy because, if written correctly, it provides room for error and you would still profit even though you are wrong.

The closer it gets to expiration (most of the time 3 rd Saturday of the month), the better it is for us. We make money using the passage of time. Many seasoned credit spread traders like to view the 3rd Saturday of the month as their pay day.

The biggest problem in Stock Options Trading is the race against time. More than 80% of options expire out-of-money or, in simpler terms, expire with no value. If you bought options, this means you would have lost all your money in the trade. So with this fact in mind, use an Options Trading Strategy that would put you on the other side of the table. And that is to use a time profiting trading strategy called Credit Spread.

Buying a laptop? Want to upgrade your old one with a new hard drive? Besides hard drive’s space size for storing your applications, documents, music, movies and other data, you should also pay attention to its speed performance. If you want fast access to stored data on your laptop’s hard disk, you should purchase hard disk with SATA interface, higher rotational speed and larger buffer cache size.

Buy Laptop with SATA Drive

Serial ATA (SATA) hard drives use less power, so they save your laptop’s battery. But, they also enchase your laptop’s speed performance. Most hard drives usually support ATA/66 (66 MB/sec), Ultra ATA/100 (100 MB/sec), or SATA (150 MB/sec) interfaces. The numbers refer to the maximum burst rate at which the drive can pass data to the system (66, 100, or 150 megabytes per second). SATA transmit data in a serially (in a single stream) as opposed to PATA or Parallel ATA which is commonly referred to as an IDE hard drive.

Check the Hard Drive Rotational Speed

Don’t forget to check the hard drive rotational speed!
The hard drive rotational speed tells you how fast the drive spins its disks in revolutions per minute (rpm). A higher rpm means higher drive performance. A 7,200 rpm hard drive is faster than a 5,400 rpm or 4,200 rpm and gives better performance.

Larger Buffer Cache Size - Better Performance

Buffer Cache Size is a temporary data storage area used to enhance drive performance. When the computer requests data from the hard disk if that data is in the cache, there is a performance boost directly related to the speed of the cache. Larger buffer cache size usually results in better hard drive performance. Buffer cache size on the most of laptop’s hard drives is usually 2 MB, 4 MB or 8 MB.

There is no doubt that violence in our community is increasing. Look at what happened in the wake of the New Orleans hurricane Katrina disaster. The criminals of the city took it upon themselves to further the trauma by committing all manner of violence and disgusting crimes towards others.

Violence simmers in every city. It is just below the surface - everywhere. Just walk down the wrong street, breakdown in your vehicle in the wrong neighborhood, make an inappropriate remark or even look at somebody the wrong way and you can be in a lot of trouble.

Police cannot stand on every street corner. Nor should they. Hoods know this. They might be violent but many of them are not stupid. They know exactly where, when, how and who to target for maximum impact.

We all know the problem. But what is the solution?

Well, simplistically it all boils down to two basic options:

  1. stay at home behind locked doors (even then you may not be safe)
  2. learn how to protect and, if necessary, defend yourself

Sure, we are under more and more surveillance all the time. Just look at how many cameras were operating in London at the time of the rail and bus terrorist bombings. Nowadays, you are being filmed all the time. Sometimes you are aware of it, often you are not. Do cameras protect anybody? No.

Cameras and to a large extent even the police are effective only AFTER the event. Cameras can provide evidence for Court proceedings. Police can make arrests. But how does any of that help you when you are trapped by a lunatic hell-bent on causing you damage?

In many cases drugs are the cause of violence. That was one of the theories put forward in the case of what happened at New Orleans. It was stated that as the many drug users became more and more desperate and demented for another drug fix they resorted to acts of extreme violence.

You cannot negotiate peace with a violent drug user because the drug is shielding the sensibility, sensitivity, compassion and humanity of the drug taker. All they see you as is a target capable of supplying them with their next fix.

We have now arrived at the point where you could be confronted by a desperate, violent person and there are no police or security guards anywhere in sight. What do you do? How can you be your own bodyguard?

In Part 2 of “Danger in the Streets - How to Be Your Own Bodyguard” I will outline some tactical responses that you can employ. However, if you prefer, you can go directly to my website and view more information on my two “Strike-Back” manuals. Having studied karate for 35 years I have put all my experience into their contents.

You can learn to be your own bodyguard. Stay with me and I will show you how.

Searching for a mortgage refinance company can be a daunting task. In a moderately sized city, there could be at least several major refinancing companies and several smaller local refinancing institutions. In a larger city, you can easily have hundreds of refinancing companies. If you add in the access to mortgage companies via the Internet, the options are truly limitless. With so many options, how can you find the right lender to refinance your home mortgage loan?

One aspect that needs to be considered when searching for the perfect mortgage company is experience. This is not to say that an inexperienced lender will not be able to give you the best refinancing rates on your mortgage. Instead, when referring to experience, I am talking about experience pertaining to your refinancing needs. For example, if your credit score is not as high as it should be, you would want to choose a lender that has experience in dealing with homeowners with less than perfect credit.

Another factor to consider is the lender’s willingness to work with you and answer your questions. If you are having trouble getting voicemail messages returned when you contact a mortgage company with your questions, then you should probably avoid doing business with this company. A homeowner oriented mortgage company will put priority on its client’s needs. It will happily answer your questions in a timely manner and be invested in exceeding your expectations.

Along with securing the lowest interest rates possible on your mortgage loan, a good mortgage company should be able to advise you on the latest trends/loan types. They should be able to answer your questions on the tax benefits and disadvantages associated with owning your home. This information should be readily and eagerly disclosed in a continuing commitment to providing the best possible service to you.

Conduct some basic research and ask questions. Take note of how the mortgage company responds. A trustworthy lender will be experienced, willing to help, and extremely knowledgeable throughout the duration of your business relationship with them. Most importantly, find a reputable lender who has your best interest at heart (and in practice) and makes you feel like a colleague rather than another number in a database.

Ben Morgan is the author of Home
Mortgage Refinancing. Every day this site gives away countless valuable tips, information, and breaking news to help you make the best mortgage refinancing decision.
